Sales Call 101: How to Run Sales Calls Like a Pro
Learn the intricacies of handling a sales call
A sales call can be very intimidating for newbies or introverts.
For others, it is a necessity of everyday life.
You have taken a lot of trouble to get into a sales call.
You had to market your services through online or physical means. You worked hard to get the leads first.
Then you had to qualify them through a rigorous qualification process.
A sales call is the final process where all your labor comes close to fruition.
How to handle it properly so that you either make a sale or at least create a good impression so that the prospect thinks of you when they decide to buy?
Listen and ask questions
Listening is the most underrated skill.
You must listen to the prospect and understand their problem. Then repeat to them what you understood.
You must figure out the problem first.
It is a conversation
A sales call is a conversation between two individuals. Talk like a normal person. Don’t put pressure on the prospect to make a buy decision.
Have your offers ready and let the prospect ask questions.
Enjoy the process
It is a process you have to enjoy. If you pressure yourself to get the sale, then you won’t enjoy the process.
And you also won’t make a great impression.
Let go of the result
Don’t worry about the result.
If you can disconnect yourself from the result, you will be much less anxious and able to have a normal conversation.
It takes two to tango
It is a two-way process. The prospect tries to gauge if you are the right person or business for the job.
You are also trying to figure if you can provide the solution to their problems.
If the two sides match, the sale will be easy. So you don’t have any control over the outcome.
No desperation
Desperation kills sales.
If the prospect smells desperation, they are unlikely to buy.
They will think you must have some issues that caused you to lose other customers. And that’s why you are desperate to make the sale.
Conclusion
It takes years to master the above skills.
The most important thing to remember is to listen to them and have a normal conversation.
You can figure out the rest over time.
