Sales Call 101: How to Deal With Anxiety
Be more confident and smooth in the interaction
Dealing with sales calls can be terrifying for newbies.
Self-doubt can cripple you if you are new to this.
So many negative questions come into your mind.
Will they buy from me? Am I convincing enough?
Am I answering the questions properly?
Are they taking me seriously?
There are some simple tactics to get rid of your anxiety.
Shift the spotlight:
If you are in the spotlight, you will be anxious and feel pressure.
If they keep asking questions and you keep answering them, you will be anxiety.
Ask probing questions and shift the spotlight to the prospect.
They will take this positively as you are trying to understand their business or their problems.
Don’t try to be the alpha:
Some people try to be the alpha and try to provide a solution then and there.
If you have that kind of personality, you must stop that urge.
Alpha mentality will put a lot of pressure on you.
You don’t need to solve the problem right there.
Be dumb and assertive:
If you are genuinely trying to understand your customer's problem, you have to put yourself in their shoes.
You have to ask them to explain their problems.
Then you have to articulate the problem so that they understand that you got it.
You don’t need to prove yourself to be very smart to sell your solution.
You need to come across as a genuine and understanding person to sell your solution or at least build the relationship.
Conclusion:
If you try to do too many things in the sales call, you will be in trouble.
Just have a normal conversation.
If you can’t answer a question, just say you don’t know and you will get back to them.
This is as easy as talking to your plumber.
