Promotion Secrets: How To Promote So That People Are Obligated to Buy
Master the secrets to sell more
As buyers, we get bombarded with promotions all the time. And we learn to ignore it unless we need something.
We essentially put our guard up. How can you break that guard down as a marketer?
Clear unique selling proposition (USP)
A clear selling proposition is very critical to sell to your buyers. You need to tell buyers why — and when — they should buy from you.
Imagine you are selling a painkiller. Should you tell them that if you are not feeling ok, you buy this painkiller? Or should you tell them if you are dying in pain, buy this painkiller?
Which message works best? Which message is more clear and succinct?
If you can draw them a picture when they should ask for your product or service, you have created a lasting impression in your customers’ minds.
Give them a reason
At times, we get offers that are too good to be true. We get suspicious. Is the product good or are they dumping the low-quality stuff?
You have to overcome this objection to get the promotion to fly. So you have to give them a reason.
Rather than saying the product is on sale, you can say the product is on sale because you are trying to clear the old stock.
The buyer knows that you are marketing to them. If you tell them why you are marketing to them, they trust you more.
Create Urgency and Scarcity
Scarcity and urgency tap into the psychology of fear of missing out (FOMO). This makes people feel like they must act now or lose an opportunity forever.
You can use phrases like “Only 5 left in stock!” or “Sale ends in 24 hours!” Or you can offer early-bird discounts that expire quickly. Or you can highlight exclusive, one-time deals for VIP customers.
Conclusion
The key to a promotion that makes people feel obligated to buy is rooted in psychology, emotion, and strategy. By leveraging a clear USP, urgency, and reason, you can create a campaign that doesn’t just attract attention but drives action.
Stand out from the crowd of promotions and keep experimenting.
